Legislative Tour: Navigating the Neches
About the Event
The Greater Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange Chambers of Commerce are coming together to host the first local legislative event in 2018: Navigating the Neches. This collaborative event will welcome state legislators, agency officials, and their staff, to our Southeast Texas community to educate them about the significance of the region and the major issues impacting it.
Participants will have the opportunity to take tours of the waterways vital to the Texas and U.S. economy, attend informational sessions, meet with local business and community leaders, and learn about Southeast Texas' unique culture. There will be a welcome session Wednesday evening at the Port of Beaumont (one of the largest ports via tonnage in the U.S), activities exploring the environmental and industrial areas on Thursday, and sessions discussing healthcare on Friday. Sessions will also include information on the significant impacts Hurricane Harvey had on the region, and the recovery efforts of various industries in its aftermath.
